Dear Hiring Team,

I want to learn how a real design studio turns an empty space into something people feel before they understand it. A summer with your team is where I want to start.

I am a high school student at Flint Hill, and I am applying because design is already how I think. I draw every day across many materials, from graphite and charcoal to watercolor, acrylic, oil paint, and alcohol marker. I work in one point and two point perspective, which means I can take a flat idea and build it into a believable space on the page. For a landscape design firm, that skill is the same one you use to show a client a garden that does not exist yet.

What I bring is range and discipline at a professional bar. I hold a 3.89 GPA with Honors, I captained my soccer team, and I have served as a Junior Ambassador Freshman Representative and a Student Council Association Sophomore Representative. I earned the Flint Hill Freshman Class Citizenship Award, and my work was selected for an Art Show Portfolio Display. I have learned that good design and good leadership ask for the same thing, which is showing up prepared and finishing what you start.

I am comfortable in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator, along with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, so I can move from a hand drawn concept to a clean digital presentation. I would be glad to take on the kind of work an intern earns, such as preparing mood boards, refining presentation boards, organizing reference imagery, and supporting client ready visuals.

What I hope to learn is the craft behind the craft. I want to see how a senior designer reads a site, how a concept survives a client meeting, and how a small studio keeps quality high under a real deadline. I will bring curiosity, a strong work ethic, and a portfolio I am proud of.
